HOUSTON -- Houston voters and residents will have a chance to hear directly from their city council candidates at a community town hall hosted by the Mat-Su Sentinel on Thursday, Sept. 18, at Houston City Hall.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the event begins at 6 p.m.

The town hall is free and open to the public.

The evening will feature questions submitted by local residents, covering the issues most important to Houston voters ahead of the Oct. 7 election.

The nonpartisan town hall is designed as an opportunity for residents to connect with candidates, learn their positions and ask questions before heading to the polls.

All candidates for city council have been invited to participate.

The event will be moderated by Mat-Su Sentinel editor and reporter Amy Bushatz. Light refreshments will be served.

The event will be held at Houston City Hall, 13878 Armstrong Road, Houston, Alaska.

Early voting for Houston’s October election opens Sept. 23. Three seats are open for election and six candidates will appear on the ballot. City ballots will also include four ballot questions.
