Mat-Su Sentinel to host series of 2026 election events
Voters are invited to join Mat-Su Sentinel for a series of three engaging, free election events.
Wasilla candidate forum
Wasilla voters are invited to a special city election forum Sept. 24 to hear from mayoral and city council candidates. This engaging candidate Q&A will feature topics and questions submitted by voters through the Sentinel’s annual voter guide process, plus questions submitted during the event.
The event is a chance for Wasilla city voters to meet and hear straight from the candidates ahead of Election Day, Oct. 6.
The event will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Menard Center in Wasilla, with doors opening at 6 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Flip the Script election events coming in October
Voters boroughwide are invited to a pair of unique and engaging election events using the Sentinel’s nonpartisan, voter-centered reverse town hall format.
On Oct. 4, Mat-Su voters and candidates for Mat-Su-area state House and Senate seats will gather at 1:30 p.m. at Glenn Massay Theater in Palmer for the Flip the Script: State Edition event, combining candidate introductions, meet-and-greets and interactive audience polling that gives voters a chance to communicate directly with candidates and shape the conversation.
Doors open at 1 p.m., with free food and drinks served during intermission.
Then, on Oct. 15, borough voters will get the chance to Flip the Script with borough assembly and school board candidates at an event at the Palmer Depot. Voters will have a chance to meet candidates, share their feedback via the polling platform, connect with neighbors and share their priorities.
