'Trick-or-Trot' offers family fun, fundraising for Palmer early learning program

Community members are invited to a Trick-or-Trot run on the cross-country trails behind Palmer High School on the afternoon of Sunday, Oct. 19, as part of a fundraiser for the nonprofit CCS Early Learning.

The event will begin with an optional costume contest at 2 p.m., followed by the 1K and 5K events at 2:30 p.m. A Diaper Dash for crawling children will take place at 3 p.m. Runners and walkers are encouraged to participate in costume.

Individuals can register for free online, with donations accepted. Warm coffee, graciously provided by Lekker Baking and Coffee Co., will be available. Event organizers are also looking for sponsors.

The first-time event was created by two Palmer High School students, Teigan Copp and Oskar Duncan, as a way to support the CCS Palmer Center, which is located near the high school.

Copp and Duncan are part of Palmer’s rigorous International Baccalaureate diploma program, which requires students to complete a Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS) project. The Trick-or-Trot will raise money for Palmer’s CCS Early Learning Head Start program and fulfill their project requirement.

Mat-Su Health Foundation, Active Soles, and Dr. Burtch at General Family Dentistry are sponsoring the event.
