Early voting now open in Palmer, Houston and Wasilla city elections
Early voting opened Monday and runs through Oct. 5.
What you need to know:
- Early voting is underway for the Oct. 6 city elections in Wasilla, Houston and Palmer. Weekday voting is available at each city hall through Oct. 5. Sunday voting is available in Wasilla.
- Voters will elect a new Wasilla mayor and City Council members in all three cities. No propositions are on the ballots.
- Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Early voting is open now for the Oct. 6 city elections in Wasilla, Houston and Palmer.
Voters will select a new mayor in Wasilla and council members in all three cities.
Voters must live within city limits to vote in that city's election. Learn how to know whether you live in city limits.
Early voting is open on weekdays for registered city voters at Wasilla and Houston city halls from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and at Palmer City Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Oct. 5.
Wasilla voters may also vote early on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Voters can also participate through absentee ballots. In Palmer, absentee ballot requests must be submitted by Sept. 25. In Houston and Wasilla, they must be received by Sept. 29.
Returned absentee ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and received by Oct. 9.
On Election Day, polls are open in each city from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Houston voters cast ballots at Houston City Hall. Voters in Wasilla and Palmer vote at their assigned precincts. Precinct information is available on the Palmer and Wasilla city websites.
In Wasilla, voters will choose a new mayor and two members for two City Council seats. If no mayoral candidate wins 40% or more of the vote, the city will hold a runoff election between the top two vote-getters in November.
In Houston, voters will decide two City Council races.
In Palmer, voters will elect two candidates to three-year City Council terms, and one candidate to a one-year term.
There are no propositions on Mat-Su city ballots this year.
