The Q&As with Mat-Su region Alaska State House and Senate Candidates
Over the past few months, voters across the Matanuska-Susitna Borough sent us their top questions for candidates running for Alaska State House and Senate seats in the Mat-Su area in 2026.
We compiled the most frequently asked questions and key topics into a survey and contacted each candidate for their input.
Of the 17 state House candidates, 16 submitted responses. Of the seven state Senate candidates, five submitted responses. Requests to participate were sent by email, text message or voicemail, or delivered in person when possible.
Election Day is Nov. 3, 2026.
About the Mat-Su Sentinel State House and Senate voter guide
What you see in this voter guide is exactly what each candidate submitted in response to the questionnaire. We did not edit or alter responses in any way.
Voters submitted questions and topics through a Mat-Su Sentinel form. Questions were selected based on the number of submissions received on each issue and whether the topic was relevant to the office in question. For example, the guide does not ask candidates about issues that fall outside the authority of the Alaska Legislature.
Submitted photos were cropped or adjusted to display properly on your screen.
Candidates were asked to disclose whether they used artificial intelligence (AI) to draft or edit their responses. Candidates were prohibited from using AI to generate or substantially alter their profile photos. (You can view the Mat-Su Sentinel’s internal AI use policy here.)
Candidates listed without a photo and with "no response" answers did not submit responses to the voter guide questionnaire.

How to find your polling place
There are two ways to find your polling place online.
Voters can look up their registration information and find their polling precinct number and address through the Alaska State Voter Search portal. Enter your first name, last name and the city listed on your mailing address, then select "Submit." The system will display your voter information.
You can also use the Alaska State Map portal, which uses GIS mapping to match an address with its assigned precinct and polling location. Enter your full address in the search field, and the map will display your polling location and precinct information.
