On Sunday, June 14, Palmer Elks Lodge No. 1842 will host a Flag Day ceremony followed by a charity golf tournament at Palmer Golf Course. The ceremony and tournament are open to the public. The ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the golf tournament will start immediately afterward.
The Elks Flag Day Ceremony is a patriotic tradition held annually by lodges across the country to honor the American flag and the values it represents. Established by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in 1907 and mandated as a nationwide observance in 1911, it is one of the oldest continuous Flag Day celebrations in the United States.
During the ceremony, members reflect on the history and evolution of the American flag and pay tribute to the sacrifices of those who have served and defended the nation. The program emphasizes patriotism, citizenship, freedom and respect for the flag as a symbol of the unity and ideals of the United States. The Elks Flag Day Ceremony serves as a reminder of the nation's shared heritage and the responsibilities of American citizenship.
The charity golf tournament is a community-focused event that helps raise funds for youth programs, veterans, local families in need and community outreach projects. Golfers of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate.
A gathering will be held Friday, June 13, for registration, team assignments and mulligan purchases. The tournament will begin immediately following the Flag Day ceremony on Sunday. Lunch, awards and a silent auction will be held at the Elks lodge following the tournament.
The lodge is seeking prize donations, raffle items and sponsorships to support the event. Registration and donation forms are available at www.palmerelks.org. For more information, contact Palmer Elks Lodge No. 1842 at 907-745-3950.
