Early voting is underway for the Nov. 3 state and borough elections.
Every Mat-Su voter will have a chance to vote on borough ballot measures and elect a state House representative, Alaska governor, U.S. senator and U.S. House representative. Most voters will also elect a state senator and a Borough Assembly or School Board member.
Early voting in the Mat-Su Borough is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Matanuska-Susitna Borough Administration Building in Palmer and the Menard Sports Center in Wasilla, according to the borough’s website.
Voting at the Menard is also available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
Early voting is also available at Houston City Hall and the Talkeetna and Trapper Creek public libraries during those facilities’ regular business hours.
Voters in all Mat-Su state House districts — Districts 25 through 30 — will elect a state representative. Voters in state Senate Districts M and O will elect a state senator.
Voters in Mat-Su Borough Districts 1, 2, 4 and 5 will elect an Assembly member, and voters in Districts 3 and 6 will elect a School Board member.
Borough voters will also weigh in on four ballot measures.
Ballot Measure A asks voters whether to extend the terms of future elected School Board members from three years to four.
Ballot Measure B asks voters whether to create a 5% boroughwide retail sales tax on alcohol.
Ballot Measure C asks voters whether to create a 1% boroughwide sales tax on most goods and services and a new property tax exemption for owner-occupied primary residences.
Ballot Measure D asks voters whether to give the borough authority to undertake large road projects without first seeking voter approval for each project.
On Election Day, polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters can find their voting district and precinct on the state elections website.
